Former FBI Agent Maureen O'Connell said Thursday on "Your World" she believes Brian Laundrie, the former fiancé of Gabby Petito, will be found alive. 

"It's the biggest mystery," host Neil Cavuto said. "Where is this guy?"

"This whole case is filled with one wild goose chase after another," O'Connell said.

Gabby Petito told a Utah police officer that Brian Laundrie hit her on Aug. 12, according to newly released bodycam video from a second Moab officer who arrived at the scene – but she quickly backtracked and claimed she struck first.

Meanwhile Laundrie said he "didn’t have time" to defend himself from allegations he’d struck his fiancée.

"I pushed her away," he tells the officer. "She gets really worked up, and when she does she swings and she had her cell phone in her hand. So I was just trying to push her away."

An FBI-led team of investigators discovered Gabby Petito's body on Sept. 19 at a campsite near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

The 22-year-old's family had reported her missing eight days prior -- after a months long cross-country road trip.Below is a timeline of Petito's travels across the country in the months before a medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s law enforcement division helped with the search for Brian Laundrie from Saturday, September 18th, to Tuesday, September 28th and devoted over 1,000 man-hours to assisting the search. 

"Since Tuesday of this week, FWC has been on standby and ready to assist again if requested by local or federal agencies," DeSantis Press Secretary Christina Pushaw told Fox News. "FWC resources on standby include 16 officers, 16 trucks, 4 UTVs, 3 ATVs, a buggy and an airboat."

Two FBI agents arrived at the North Port, Florida home of Brian Laundrie and his parents on Thursday afternoon, where they stayed for approximately 30 minutes and briefly explored the camper in the driveway before leaving with a bag.

The agents, a man and a woman, arrived at the Laundries’ home at about 1:15 p.m. in a black, unmarked vehicle and carried a large paper bag to the front door. One of the agents later walked over to the camper, which is designed to be towed by another vehicle, opened the door and reached inside. They did not answer any questions as they left approximately a half-hour later with a camouflage bag.

After the agents’ departure, Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino released a statement in which he wrote: "The FBI is at the Laundrie home today to collect some personal items belonging to Brian that will assist the canines in their search for Brian.  There is nothing more to this."

An attorney for Brian Laundrie, Steven Bertolino, confirmed Thursday that the 23-year-old bought a new cellphone on Sept. 4, three days after he returned to Florida without his fiancee, Gabby Petito, whose remains were found in Wyoming on Sept. 19. 

Bertolino said that Laundrie left the new phone at home when he went for a hike on Sept. 14 and never returned, but the attorney said he is unsure what happened to Laundrie’s old phone — the one he had on his cross-country road trip with Petito. 

An Aug. 12 domestic altercation between Laundrie and Petito in Moab, Utah, began with a fight over a phone, according to a witness.

"There is nothing more to this," he added.

The FBI agents have now departed the Laundrie family's property.

Two FBI agents have entered the North Port home of Brian Laundrie on Thursday, Fox News confirms.

The agents -- one male and one female -- were carrying a large paper bag.

Grady Judd, the sheriff of Polk County, which neighbors Sarasota County and its city of North Port, is speaking out Thursday about the Gabby Petito homicide.

“I can tell you, at this sheriff's office, when he showed up with [Petito's] car and she was no place to be found, we would have never let him out of our custody that day,” Judd said in response to a question about Petito from a reporter. “Other than that, I'm not sure where their investigation is."

As of midday Thursday, the location of Brian Laundrie – the person of interest in Petito’s death --- remains unknown.

"I can tell you that, according to Florida law, when [Petito] was a victim of domestic violence originally, he would have been arrested," Judd added.

Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie purchased a cellphone from an AT&T store in his hometown of North Port, Florida, 10 days before his parents claimed to have last seen him, but his attorney does not know what prompted Laundrie's need for a new phone, Fox News has learned.

Bertolino added: "Brian left that phone at home the day he went for a hike in the preserve on Sept. 14, 2021, and the FBI now has that phone."

But when asked if he knew what happened to Laundrie's old cellphone, Bertolino responded: "No."

Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie purchased a cellphone from an AT&T store in his hometown of North Port 10 days before his parents claimed to have last seen him, Fox News has learned. 

The Laundrie family's attorney, Steven Bertolio, confirmed Thursday that "a phone was purchased on September 4, 2021 and Brian opened an account with AT&T for that phone."

Bertolino added: Brian left that phone at home the day he went for a hike in the preserve on September 14, 2021 and the FBI now has that phone."

Social media has proven to be a somewhat reliable source in the hunt for Brian Laundrie, a fugitive person of interest in the killing of his fiancée, 22-year-old Gabby Petito.

Petito, an aspiring travel blogger, and Laundrie were traveling cross-country in a Ford Transit van, documenting their experience on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube before the now-deceased young woman went missing.

Laundrie returned home to North Port, Florida, without Petito on Sept. 1. Petito's family reported her missing on Sept. 11. Laundrie's family later reported their son missing on Sept. 17, though the last time they said they saw him was Sept. 14. The mystery spans states across the country and a weekslong timeline of events.

There were at least 46 911 calls placed at the North Port, Fla. home of Brian Laundrie between September 10 and the 27th, according to police records obtained by Fox News Digital. 

North Port Police Department provided Fox News Digital with 46 pages of records related to 911 calls with an incident location of the home where Laundrie resides with his parents, and where he lived with his fiancée, Gabby Petito, before she disappeared and was later found dead. 

North Port Police would not provide logs for calls made before the afternoon of September 10, the day before Petito’s mother reported her missing, and the records were partially redacted.

Gabby Petito’s father, Joe, posted on Instagram that Gabby “followed her own path to travel and see the beauty of this world. 

“You may be gone, but you will make this world a better place,” he added. 

A neighbor appeared to try to start a fight with a protester outside the Laundries' home on Wednesday evening.

Tensions boiled over Wednesday evening outside the Laundrie family home in North Port, Florida, after a neighbor confronted a protester for allegedly trespassing on his property.

The home has been the focus of media attention since Gabby Petito was reported missing earlier this month and the subsequent disappearance of Brian Laundrie, who lived with her at the home for about two years before their cross-country journey.

Two protesters with megaphones have taunted and yelled at the Laundrie family from outside the home for the past few days from morning to evening. At around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a neighbor came to the front of the house and appeared to push a male protester. -Paul Best

Brian Laundrie's father, Chris Laundrie, on Wednesday afternoon walked outside for the first time since Tuesday morning as protesters and media continue to wait outside their North Port, Florida, home for answers.

Chris Laundrie cracked open his front door on Wednesday afternoon to pick up a box of Dunkin Donuts, other boxes and flowers that had been delivered to his home earlier that day.

Delivery services including FedEx, Amazon, local florists and food delivery apps like GrubHub continue to leave things at the Laundries' door as they wait inside for hours on end.
